“Canadian Church Fire Series”
2026 / Acrylic on Canvas / 9” x 12”
Police and fire crews responded to a fire at the church around 3:20 a.m. on June 30, 2021.
The church was built in 1907, and was declared a historical site back in 1975.
The fire came at a time when four other churches in British Columbia were also destroyed by suspicious fires. The fires were set in retaliation to the announcement of the possible discovery of unmarked graves at a former residential school site in Kamloops, B.C. Both the unmarked graves and the individuals who committed the arson, is yet to be confirmed and proven in court.
